Tips for trips in the surroundings
The nearby surroundings of the guesthouse offer extensive forests for hiking, mushroom
picking and berry picking. Nearby it is also possible to fish (permit required).
Cyclists have a wealth of possibilities here, including the cycle path Hradec Králové -
Kuks - Dvůr Králové n. L. (part of the European cycle path No. 2 leading from Hamburg to the source of
the Elbe).
In summer, you can enjoy natural swimming in Vlčkovice, 2 km away, or a modern swimming
pool in Dvůr Králové n. L., and in winter, cross-country skiing and downhill skiing are
offered (several ski resorts between 12 and 35 km away - e.g. Zvičina, Janské Lázně, Pec
pod Sněžkou).

Lovers of culture and history will not want to miss a visit to the Baroque jewel - the Kuks Hospital with
Braun's statues of vices and virtues, and the forest Nativity scene.
A pleasant day can also be spent at the ZOO in Dvůr Králové nad Labem. There is also a Mineral Gallery in the town. At
Jaroměř you should not miss a visit to the Theresian fortress Josefov.

Not far from Dvůr Králové n. L. there is the fairy-tale dam Les Království
(Forest of the Kingdom), the highest peak of the region Zvičina or the
natural monument Čertovy hrady (Devil's Castles).
It is not far to Česká Skalice either, where besides the Museum of Božena Němcová you can
visit Ratibořice,
the setting of her famous novel, or take a trip to the Rozkoš water
reservoir.
It is also worth a visit to Náchod (castle, Primátor brewery)
with the adjacent Dobrošov hill, where, in addition to the lookout tower with a
restaurant, there are several bunkers (e.g. Dobrošov or Březinka) with the possibility of
sightseeing. Those interested in war fortifications can also visit the Stachelberg artillery fortress
near Trutnov.
The International Folklore
Festival is held every August in nearby Červený Kostelec. From Nové
Město nad Metují, where you can stop at the chateau, there is a beautiful
circuit along the river to the údolí Pekla (Hell Valley). In
Hronov there is the birth house and Museum of
Alois Jirásek, in Malé Svatoňovice you can visit the birth house and Muzeum of the Čapek
brothers, from where you can go to the Žaltman lookout tower.
In Hořice there is a sculpture school; in Miletín those interested can
try to make biscuits called Hořice tubes themselves.

Tourists will surely welcome the reasonable accessibility of the local natural jewels –
the Krkonoše Mountains, the Adršpach-Teplice Rocks, the Broumov and Police
Walls (Ostaš, Hvězda, Ruprechtický špičák, Kamenná brána) or the
table mountains (Bor, Hejšovina, Bludné skály) in the Polish border area.
Třebechovice pod Orebem became famous especially thanks to its carved moving
Nativity scene.
Those who are tempted to go a little further afield can visit the pretty spa town of
Kudowa-Zdrój or the pilgrimage site of Wambierzyce.
